ATTENTION
FLUSHING:
On a regular basis, District staff open fire hydrant valves to allow water to flow through the pipes. Systematically opening the hydrants enhances water quality by flushing sediment from the main line pipes, verifies the proper operation of hydrants and valves, and ensures that the hydrant is operational in case of an emergency.
Hydrant flushing is scheduled during the wetter months when water supplies are more plentiful. Larger mains are flushed first. The route is carefully planned to control the direction of the water. When a hydrant is open, there may be temporary incidences of discolored water while fine sediment particles are flushed. There are no health hazards concerning the discolored water. Occasionally, water pressure may decrease in areas surrounding the line flushing and some water discoloration may occur. If discoloration occurs, please run the water until it clears. There may be a slight discoloration for a few hours. However, the discoloration only affects the appearance of the water, it does not affect the water quality. Avoid washing laundry until the water runs clear at the tap. If your pressure or volume seem low, check your faucet screens for trapped particles.
Flow testing and water line flushing will take place periodically during April 2026. If you experience problems with water quality or pressure after the flushing event, please contact the office
