Your Water.  Your District.

The first regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the newly incorporated "Wickiup Water District" took place on September 19, 1938.  The five original commissioners were: William Hunt (acting chairman), H.E. Lawrence (secretary), C.G. Forrester (treasurer), Fred Ward, and Alex Lindfors.  Although names and faces have changed over the years, the Board's dedication to providing quality water to friends, families, and businesses, has remained the same.

Wickiup Water District is a not-for-profit government entity.  The District has made significant investments in the water distribution system to ensure water reliability,  However, more work is required, as many portions of the water system are over 20-years old and require more maintenance and repair then before.  State and Federal drinking water standards are constantly evolving and expanding.  Wickiup Water District continues to meet those standards and work toward insuring the safe delivery of high-quality water.

Wickiup Water District distributes water to the community from two sources.  The Slow Sand Filter plant, which was built in the late 80's, is located off Akerstedt.  The Slow Sand Filter  plant is fed by Fat Buck Creek and has the capacity of holding 200,000-gallons of water.  Little Creek feds our Little Creek Reservoir.  It is the oldest plant and is located up Palmrose.   The large bolted steel reservoir has the capability of holding 450,000-gallons of water.   There is also a storage tank located on Ivy Station Rd., that has the capacity to hold 200,000-gallons of water.  The storage tank receives water from both the Slow Sand Filter plant and Little Creek Reservoir.

We welcome and encourage participation from the community.  If you are interested in serving on the Board or volunteering in some other way, please contact us.
